SOKKIA Mapping Products:

Forensic Mapping is the specific use of Electronic Total Stations to map crime scenes. Electronic Total Stations can be used to exactly scale a crime scene such as an automobile collision, homicide scene, bomb blast or other large outdoor site. Forensic Mapping can be used to document and measure the collapse of a vehicle to determine speeds from crush. Quite often overlooked, Electronic Total Stations provide not only X,Y measurements but also Z (elevation) measurements to give exact elevations across the survey.

Set 510/530R:

A SOKKIA 530R Reflectorless Total Station

The Set 510 is a 5 second accurate total station.  The 530R is a reflectorless total station that depending on the reflectivity of the target can return signals over 400 feet.  The station can also be used for distance measurements as well as reflective sheet targets.  I have this 530R and find it very useful for dangerous locations such as on Interstate highways with a significant traffic volume.  This unit can be equipped with a wireless keyboard and a compact flash reader for collecting and storing data without use of a data collector.

Set 610:

The Set 610 is the entry level total station for crash reconstruction and Forensic Mapping.  It is a 6 second station and is completely functional for scene, building face or vehicular mapping.  The 610 must be used with a data collector such as the Panasonic Toughbook 01 or an SDR 8100.

Law Enforcement Applications (LEA):

SOKKIA has recognized the emerging Law Enforcement markets and has addressed several systems and accessories specific for Law Enforcement officials.  LEA includes Total Stations, LEA Accessory Kits and Map Vista LEA software for processing the collected data.
